AMERICAN MARITIME CONGRESS RETURNS TO CAPITOL HILL

WASHINGTON, DC - After fourteen years, the American Maritime Congress has returned to Capitol Hill. AMC has announced that it has completed its move from its downtown offices back to its original location, in the Hall of the States Building on Capitol Hill.

"AMC’s mission is to educate Congress and the general public on the importance of the American merchant marine," said AMC Executive Director Brian W. Schoeneman. "Being on Capitol Hill brings us closer to our audience and reduces our costs. It just makes sense to be back here."

AMC was founded in the late 70s and originally headquartered in the Hall of the States Building at 444 North Capitol Street, NW. In 1992, it moved downtown to Franklin Square, at 1300 I Street, NW.

AMC’s new address will be 400 North Capitol Street, NW Suite G-50, Washington, DC 20001. AMC’s new telephone number is (202) 347-8020, and its fax number is (202) 347-1550.

The American Maritime Congress, founded in 1977, is an educational and research group representing U.S.-flag vessel operating companies in the international and domestic trades that have collective bargaining agreements with the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (AFL-CIO), which represents the licensed engineers and deck officers of the U.S. Merchant Marine.
